(5/11/2019) - A local organization is helping families in mid-Michigan make healthier choices.
People had access to several health resources including McLaren hospital, Hamilton Community Health Network, and Genesee Health during the second annual Health and Resource Expo Saturday.
The event inside Eisenhower Elementary in Flint got people up on their feet. People danced their hearts out for a free Zumba class inside the gym in Flint.
Organizers had one goal in mind for their community.
“So, you know we want our families to be healthy,” Community School Director at Eisenhower Elementary Stacy Winchester said.
Those who stopped at the expo received a wide range of health benefits like dental screenings and even blood pressure checks.
Winchester knows getting these kinds of screenings can be difficult for the families who live in his community.
“You know we are just trying to do our part to help out or city,” he said.
Winchester says it was important to have all of these screenings under one roof.
“To make it convenient for our families to come to the schools and get healthy,” Winchester said.
Health wasn’t the only focus during the expo organizers also held a job fair to help those seeking employment.
