(5/8/2019) - Mid-Michigan motorists heading to Detroit this weekend will have to find a different route than normal.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is closing both directions of I-75 in Oakland County to demolish a pair of bridges and complete pavement repairs from Friday night through Sunday morning.
All northbound and southbound lanes of the freeway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday between I-696 and Square Lake Road in the Troy area.
The Wattles Road bridge between Sterling Heights and Bloomfield Hills will be demolished, along with the Crooks Road and Corporate Drive bridge just south of Square Lake Road.
The posted detour route for all I-75 traffic this weekend will be on Woodward Avenue.
The interchanges at Wattles Road and at Crooks Road and Corporate Drive will remain closed until August.
