(5/7/2019) - Mail carriers across the United States will be picking up much more than envelopes on Saturday. The annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is happening to benefit food banks. The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan will receive donations from parts of Mid-Michigan. To make a donation: -- Leave a bag of nonpersishable food where mail is usually delivered. Make sure to put it out early in the morning, well before mail typically is delivered. -- A letter carrier will pick up the bag during their routes. -- Volunteers from the United Way will help sort and package donations at Mid-Michigan post offices before they are delivered to the food bank. Special donation bags will be distributed this week along some mail routes, but letter carriers will accept donations in any bag.
