(1/30/2019) General motors has suspended production at several Michigan plants including Flint assembly, Lansing Delta Township Assembly, Lansing Grand River Assembly, Lansing Regional Stamping and Lansing Grand River Stamping after a request from Consumers Energy. According to Local 598's facebook page, Flint Assembly's 2nd shift production was halted Wednesday night because of the extreme cold. Production was also suspended for third shift Wednesday night and first shift Thursday morning. Maintenance is to report as normal. The union says workers can check the Plant hotline for additional updates. 1-877-574-5169. Consumers Energy asked GM to suspend operations to allow the utility to manage supply issues brought on by the extreme temperatures and equipment issues at Consumers Energy. Lansing Delta Township Assembly, Lansing Grand River Assembly, Lansing Regional Stamping and Lansing Grand River Stamping suspended operations during the 2nd shift this evening. Third shift and first shift operations are also cancelled. In Lansing, essential personnel will be notified individually by management.
