(1/30/2019) - What was supposed to be an 11-hour trip to Chicago for some Indian Trails bus passengers has now turned into a week-long ordeal. A few dozen people got stuck in Owosso. One rider said when she hopped on the bus Monday in Bay City, despite the snowy conditions, she was hopeful of making it to Chicago for her vacation. However, 50 miles into the trip the bus driver called it quits in the middle of a blinding snowstorm. "This person is going 10 miles an hour and I was starting to have a panic of are we going to make it over this bridge without an accident happening, so I guess it was a good judgement call to stop," said Jennifer Gorlo-Thwing. She said Indian Trails put her and several other riders up at the Comstock Inn in Owosso. The bus arrived in Lansing just before 9 p.m. Monday, but weather conditions continued to get worse -- and so did the roads. So Indian Trails bused the stranded passengers to a hotel. Because no one else in her family can drive, Gorlo-Thwing and others are stuck in Owosso until Friday. But she's going to make the best of this situation. She has a Realtor exam coming up, so for the next few days she's going to hit the books and get ready for her test. "A new career to get rid of two old careers of selling on eBay and Amazon for over 12 years," Gorlo-Thwing said. Indian Trails has canceled services through Thursday. The company blames the cancellations on the roads and how cold it's outside. Buses should resume service on Friday.
