Consumers Energy had their units ready Sunday.
Consumers Energy put units all around the state in preparations for the windy storm.
They've been feeling lucky because they were anticipating more than 200,000 to be without power Consumers Energy spokesperson Debra Dodd said.
"We are really grateful it's not,” Dodd said.
All across Michigan people have been dealing with strong winds.
"I feel like when I try to rock my tires a little bit. It feels like I'm going to be taken away from me some times. Especially when you are driving like on the highway or something, you're going 70, and then the wind is blowing as well. It just feels like you're going to fly away."
"No, I ain't seen no wind like this before."
Strong winds are to blame for knocking down a billboard in Flint near Dort Highway.
Elsewhere around mid-Michigan the storm knocking down trees, peeling off siding and causing people to lose power.
"It feels like the wind blowing like 40-50 mph.”
With wind speeds reaching higher than 50 miles per hour Consumers called in for aid.
"(There’s) Mutual assistance from Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Indiana helping us out,” Dodd said.
When speeds are higher than 35 they'll keep the cherry pickers from going up, Dodd told ABC 12.
"But trust me we know people are frustrated when their power is out. We are grateful for their patience, and we are working just as quickly as we can to make sure their power is restored,” she said.
Dodd says they prioritize outage calls on hospitals first, then emergency responders then homes.
If you're using a generator tonight make sure it's 25 feet outside of your home.
