(1/25/2019) - A 60-year-old man was pronounced dead Friday from injuries sustained in a fire at Bradley House Apartments in Bay City. The Bay City Department of Public Safety responded to the complex at 100 15th St. around 5:10 a.m. after a fire alarm activated. The first arriving firefighters only found an odor of smoke, but no other evidence of fire. As they investigated, they discovered heavy smoke on the fourth floor in a hallway of the A building. The fire was contained to a single apartment on that floor. The 60-year-old victim was located unresponsive in the unit where the fire originated. Firefighters brought him outside, where a waiting ambulance took him to McLaren Bay Region hospital. The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Firefighters rescued two other residents from apartments on either side of the unit on fire. They both were escorted outside but were not injured. Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire and the victim's cause of death remained under investigation on Friday.
